Propain asked me to teach him how not to suck at this game. As I'm not THAT cruel I promised to link him to some useful articles on how to start with this brilliant game.
This article basically sums up everything you need to know to start: How to stay alive longer than one minute. Really, just start as a soldier and spam, follow your teammates and try to stick to a medic. Over time you'll recognise the map (when Badlands was new it took me a week before I realised that the map was mirrored), and where the ammo and healthpacks are. Look at what other players do and try to copy that (eventually). Playing medic taught me a lot, because you can see what better players do from a bit of a distance. Unless you know how to play the class it's not really going to be rewarding to play medic on a public though. So, play soldier and spam.

Really amusing to read. Will giving it a spin soon. Also worked my way through the first part of Half Life2. I like the story driven approach but still this SP FPS isn't really for me.

This game is now free to play. Which means that it doesn't cost money. None. Basically this means that the price v.s. quality equation is infinite, so there's no reason not to play it. I can see some reasons why you won't play it:
a. you suck at first person shooters (solution: read the article I linked Propain to some posts earlier) b. your computer can't run it (solution: use this config)

I choose a, b , c and d.
With c) being: other games have better values in reward vs time and money equation (although costing more...) d) I have no disk space for more games left (ok, I know it's a bad excuse) But then again, there is Fact a.

Option C isn't a real option if you're going infinite

But according to that calculation a game that you don't play and that costs more money equals more fun than a game you played a lot and have spent money on.

If I don't play a game, then the fun is negative. And time also means time for getting the game (or getting it started)
Fun is kind of an integral, that sums up the fun over time. And sadly, there are games where the fun started positive, but turned into negative fun, making the amount of fun decrease. ( see: Colonization II ) But normally, if I play a game for a lot of time, then hat means, that fun is positive and Fun still increases. (Sometimes buying a game is itself fun, therefore some games already start at a positive value)

Could you write that formula down to make it clearer?

I think, we'd need to ask PP to add vbCode for integrals first...
