Teaching Matrix Civ3: Succession game
Since I'm getting spanked by Markstar in Tiny Chaos 2 (no spoiler), ProPain suggested to do a succession game, so that I could learn to play Civ3 decently. Beam told me about the fun of succession games last saturday and Aggie said he's always in favour of a new one, so here I am.
Also, Aggie said something about a theme. Since I've never done a succession game before I don't mind about a theme, but I reckon that might be a bit boring for you. But I hope you understand I leave the idea for a theme to you. Settings: Demi-god would be cool. Although my level is more monarch I've won emperor twice in my life (out of four I think) - those were both GOTM's - so with your help that'll probably be too easy. And deity is far beyond my reach. Is that ok? In principle rules: default, map: standard and the rest all random, but I'm open to suggestions (for a theme?). [u]Players</u> ProPain Matrix Beam Banzai Col. Tarleton <s>Aggie</s>

I'm in! But please put me at the end of the roster
The theme could be very simple, like on of these: -make use of the traits of your civ to a maximum (scientific slingshots, seafaring trade monopolies, militaristic warmongering, etc...) -only goal is a certain vic type -conquest/domination, culture, UN, Space, histograph () -, but all are open. Sounds like we should have a lot of debates and good write-ups to help you understand our play. Starting with the opening turns! Personally I think that a domination/conquest goal on continents is the most complete civ experience. You can learn to get out of the tech hole due to trading/war, get ahead in the tech race and also learn about warfare. To achieve a game with all ingredients I'd say that we could make a rule in which we are only allowed to beat up one civ per military era (ancient age, age of knights, age of cavalry, age of artillery, age of bombers and tanks, modern age, nucleair age). To avoid a big advantage on continents I'd suggest a non-seafaring civ. China sounds like fun |

Aggie: I like it all!
I think it would be educationally best if I'd be the second in line. Let someone else show me the best way to start, perhaps with short instructions how to continue. How many players are best for a succession game?

5 or 6 people should be OK. If you want info on running SG's, you could check examples started by Charis, LKendter or even me (AG1 is a nice one) on CFC. Charis is someone who likes a lot of debate, LKendter is kinda...sober.

Good idea, ProPain!
Let's wait for one more player, then we're ready to go. [u]Summary</u> Rules: Default, - but we are only allowed to finish with conquest/domination. - we are not allowed to kill more than one civ in each of the era's mentioned by Aggie. Map: standard, continents (70% I suppose). Rest random. Is it ok if you start this one, PP? Followed by: me, Beam, 5th player and Aggie.

Hm, sounds nice. I've got next to no time in the next few weeks though.
