. Luckily Monique got an epidural after 14 hours which made things much more bearable. It's quite uncommon over here to get an anestetic (is that how it's spelled
) during childbirth (I'm told it's quite common/standard practice in the States and several other European countries. Very glad they did that, relieved Monique from the pain for a while so she could catch her breath a bit and recuperate. Because it all took over 24 hours after the water broke we had to stay for observations. Apparently the danger of infection rises quite a bit after 23 hours. Luckily Floor was alright though.
